Little Chick's Journey to the Godhead!

Glories of Lokanath Swami Maharaj

When Guru Maharaj was 6 years old, Maharaj’s sister Sonabai (Sita Mataji) was ill.

During those days of the 1960s, if someone was ill then people used to take that person to the Tankriks and then visit the doctor. That was the story of every village, especially in those days.

So Mother Shahbai took her daughter sonabai to the tantrik and that tantrik suggested to go home, finding a chick and casting off the evil eye by circulating the chick over sona bai and leaving that chick outside the village.

From bringing the chick to leaving it outside the village Guru Maharaj was watching each and every action of his mother. As soon as his mother went to leave that baby chick outside the village, Maharaj also went behind her.

Aravade village being a hilly area when Maharaj went there he saw his mother leaving the chick behind and returning home.

As she started to walk, Maharaj went closer to his mother, holding her saree he started asking questions to his mother –

Aai, How that chick is going to live without his mother?

How is that chick going to live alone?

What that chick will eat when it will be hungry?

Guru Maharaj started asking questions one after another and his mother answering all his questions still Maharaj's heart wasn't satisfied.

Then finally mother said, “I have left that chick now let’s go back to home. That baby chick belongs to someone else now, not to us, let’s go home”.

To this Maharaj replied until and unless you won't find that baby chick back, I am not coming with you. Maharaj sat there and started crying.

Mother Shahbai had to do a lot of hard work to find the chick in the pitch-dark night.

Finally, she caught the baby chick and then they all proceeded home.

This pastime reveals the butter-like heart of Srila Gurumaharaj which melts on seeing the sufferings of the living entities.

The saying goes 'Sant hriday navneet samana'

which indicates that the heart of sadhus is like butter. Butter melts when it is given fire but the heart of Sadhu Guru melts seeing others suffer in the fire of the samsara!

Sweet little Raghunath Ki Jay!
